Who is Quantium?

Quantium is a world leader in data science and artificial intelligence. Established in Australia in 2002, Quantium is a global team of more than 1,200 people across 14 locations with a unique blend of capabilities across product and consulting services to help businesses unlock value from data and analytics. Quantium partners with the world's largest corporations to forge a better, more intelligent world.

We combine a team of experts that spans data scientists, actuaries, statisticians, business analysts, strategy consultants, engineers, technologists, programmers, product developers, and futurists – all dedicated to harnessing the power of data to drive transformational outcomes for our clients.

Our Insurance practice works with top-tier clients across General Insurance, Life, Wealth, and Superannuation to deliver high-impact analytics and AI solutions. As a Consultant, you'll primarily work with leading general insurers and reinsurers on Appointed Actuary matters including reserving, capital modelling, and financial condition reports. You'll also have opportunities to expand into broader advisory and analytics work, applying cutting-edge data science, AI, and actuarial techniques to translate complex data insights into actionable business intelligence.

How will you make an impact?

  • Deliver analytics excellence: Deliver high-quality analytics, using appropriate statistical and actuarial techniques, across reserving, capital modelling, pricing, data and AI transformation projects
  • Transform insights into action: Engage with clients to understand requirements and develop clear, compelling communications that translate technical insights into recommendations for both business and technical stakeholders
  • Build innovative solutions: Develop and maintain models and tools that support client decision-making across General Insurance, Life, Wealth, and Superannuation sectors
  • Drive quality outcomes: Contribute to project deliverables including technical documentation, presentations, and client reports while supporting quality assurance processes to ensure accuracy and integrity of analytical outputs
  • Collaborate across teams: Work with senior team members and cross-functional teams to scope, design, and deliver solutions while participating in knowledge sharing activities and developing best practices for insurance analytics

The superpowers you'll be bringing to the team:

  • Academic foundation: Degree in a quantitative field such as Actuarial Studies, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Economics, or related discipline
  • Insurance analytics experience: 1-5 years of experience in insurance analytics, actuarial analysis, or related quantitative roles with foundational knowledge of insurance concepts including reserving, capital modelling or pricing (actuarial background preferred but not essential; AASB 17 experience advantageous)
  • Technical proficiency: Experience with at least one analytical programming language or tool (e.g. R, Python, SQL, or similar)
  • AI mindset: Demonstrated interest in artificial intelligence and emerging analytics techniques, with drive to challenge existing processes
  • Problem solver: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
  • Clear communicator: Excellent communication and presentation skills, with ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences
  • Collaborative mindset: Ability to work collaboratively in team environments and manage multiple priorities, including comfort working in a hybrid environment with regular on-site collaboration (typically three days per week)
  • Continuous learner: Self-motivated with willingness to learn and develop new technical and business skills

Remember – you might not tick all the boxes, but don't let that stop you from applying. We're more interested in how you work, your ability to solve problems and think big.
