Job Description

Who is Quantium?

Quantium is a world leader in data science and artificial intelligence. Established in Australia in 2002, Quantium is a global team of more than 1,200 people across 14 locations with a unique blend of capabilities across product and consulting services to help businesses unlock value from data and analytics. Quantium partners with the world’s largest corporations to forge a better, more intelligent world.

Quantium Health is a joint venture between Quantium and Discovery Health, established in 2017. We’ve grown into a leading health data consultancy in the South African market, driving value in the healthcare sector through data, technology, analytics, and change management.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Lead to join our Quantium Health SA team. This is a senior, client-facing role and we’re looking for someone who brings deep expertise in data analytics / engineering, and thrives at the intersection of client strategy and technical delivery. You will be the bridge between our clients’ requirements and our delivery teams, translating complex business challenges into robust data solutions and maintaining alignment throughout the lifecycle of each engagement.

How will you make an impact?

  • Client solution design: Translate complex business and data engineering requirements into practical solution architectures that deliver measurable value, balancing technical feasibility, business impact, and client constraints
  • Requirements and scoping: Work directly with client stakeholders to gather and define data engineering requirements, problem-frame effectively, and shape solution roadmaps that are grounded in both technical reality and commercial priorities
  • Technical governance: Establish and uphold technical standards for data engineering solutions, guide architectural decisions, and ensure scalability, quality, and compliance throughout delivery
  • Delivery collaboration: Serve as the connective tissue between client teams and our internal data scientists and engineers, ensuring clear communication, shared understanding, and continuous alignment on priorities and progress
  • Commercial acumen: Support the development of accurate solution estimates and business cases, identify growth opportunities within existing accounts, and articulate ROI clearly to senior stakeholders

The superpowers you’ll be bringing to the team:

  • Technical expertise: 7+ years of hands-on experience across data engineering, advanced analytics, or data science, with a strong understanding of data pipelines, cloud platforms, and modern data architecture patterns
  • Solution design capability: Proven track record translating business requirements into technical solutions, including delivery involvement where your expertise adds value
  • Client-facing confidence: Experience working directly with client stakeholders, gathering requirements, presenting technical options, and maintaining relationships through complex engagements
  • Communication skills: Ability to translate technical concepts clearly for non-technical audiences, and to frame data engineering decisions in terms of business outcomes
  • Commercial mindset: Strong commercial awareness with the ability to develop estimates, resource plans, and forecasts, and to articulate the business impact of different technical approaches
  • Academic background: Degree in mathematics, statistics, physics, engineering, computer science, or a related discipline

Remember – you might not tick all the boxes, but don’t let that stop you from applying. We’re more interested in how you work, your ability to solve problems and think big.

What could your Quantium experience look like?

Working at Quantium will allow you to challenge your imagination. You will get to solve complex problems using rigour, precision and by asking great questions — but it also means you can think big, outside the box and push your problem-solving skills to the max.

By joining the Quantium team, you’ll get to:

  • Forge your path: Be in the driver’s seat of your career, with opportunities to move across different teams or offices.
  • Find your kind: Embrace diversity and connect with like-minded colleagues in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Make an impact: Leave your mark by contributing to projects that drive positive change across the health sector.

Benefits

On top of the Quantium experience, you will enjoy a range of great benefits that go beyond the ordinary. Some of these include:

  • Continuous learning: Our vision is empowering our people to thrive. The Analytics Community fosters the development of individuals, thought leadership and technical excellence at Quantium through building strong connections, fostering collaboration, and co-creation of best practice.
  • Flexible work arrangements: Achieve work-life balance with hybrid and flexible work arrangements (3 core days onsite, 2 days from home).
  • Remote working: Embrace the opportunity to work outside of your assigned home location for up to 2 months every year.
