Role summary 
 

The Lead Engineer is a hands-on technical leadership role responsible for driving engineering excellence and delivering high-quality software solutions at Quantium. This role combines deep technical expertise with the ability to mentor and guide engineers, setting the technical direction for projects whilst remaining actively involved in design, development, and code delivery.
 

You will work closely with cross-functional teams including Product, Data Science, and DevOps to deliver robust technical solutions that enable our data science and analytics capabilities. The successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional technical skills, strong problem-solving abilities, and a passion for writing great code whilst mentoring others to raise the bar for engineering quality.

How will you make an impact?
 

• Lead technical design and architecture decisions for complex software projects
• Write high-quality, maintainable code and conduct thorough code reviews to uphold engineering standards
• Drive technical best practices including testing strategies, CI/CD implementation, and system reliability
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to engineers, helping them grow their technical capabilities
• Collaborate with Product and Data Science teams to translate requirements into robust technical solutions
• Identify and resolve technical debt, performance bottlenecks, and scalability challenges
• Champion modern software engineering practices and introduce new technologies where appropriate
• Lead technical discussions and proof-of-concepts to evaluate solutions and guide technology choices

 
The superpowers you will bring to the team: 
 

• 6+ years of software engineering experience with deep expertise in modern development practices
• Proven track record of delivering complex, scalable software systems from design through to production
• Strong hands-on coding skills with expertise in relevant technologies and languages
• Experience with cloud platforms, microservices architecture, and distributed systems
• Demonstrated ability to mentor and elevate the technical skills of other engineers
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to navigate ambiguous technical challenges
• Strong communication skills with ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences
