Role summary 
 

This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced AI professional to lead and shape Quantium's artificial intelligence strategy and implementation. As the Lead AI Engineer in the AI Innovation Squad, you will be instrumental in driving the adoption and integration of cutting-edge AI technologies across both internal engineering teams and external client projects. This role demands a unique blend of technical expertise, strategic vision, and influencing capability to position Quantium at the forefront of AI innovation.

Working within Technology & Delivery, you will serve as the primary thought leader and subject matter expert on artificial intelligence, particularly in the generative AI space. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify, evaluate, and implement AI solutions that deliver measurable business value and efficiency gains. The ideal candidate will combine deep technical knowledge with business acumen and the ability to translate complex AI concepts into tangible benefits for stakeholders at all levels.

How will you make an impact?
 

• Provide thought leadership and technical expertise on AI technologies, frameworks, and methodologies
•  Assess and evaluate emerging AI tools, platforms, and capabilities for potential business applications
• Define architectural patterns and best practices for AI implementation across the organisation
• Collaborate with engineering and analytics teams to integrate AI solutions into existing systems
• Mentor and guide team members on AI technologies and implementation approaches
• Consult with internal product teams to identify opportunities for AI/LLM implementation
• Work with external clients on AI-focused projects, from initial pitch to feature implementation
• Regularly assess the industry landscape and produce quarterly Tech Radar reports on AI technologies, tools, and trends
• Develop and implement metrics to measure efficiency improvements resulting from AI adoption
• Serve as an evangelist for AI adoption across the broader business
• Identify areas within engineering teams where AI could significantly improve efficiency
• Design and implement proof-of-concept solutions that demonstrate the value of AI technologies
• Collaborate with vendors to explore new tools and capabilities that align with organisational goals
• Balance innovation with practical implementation considerations, ensuring solutions are scalable and maintainable
• Drive the integration of AI capabilities into existing products and services

 

The superpowers you will bring to the team: 
 

• 10+ years of experience in the software industry with a focus on AI and ML technologies
• Deep understanding of the generative AI landscape, including large language models and related technologies
• Hands-on experience implementing AI solutions in commercial environments
• Strong programming skills in languages commonly used for AI development (Python, JavaScript, etc.)
• Experience with major AI platforms and frameworks (OpenAI, Anthropic, Hugging Face, TensorFlow, PyTorch, etc.)
• Demonstrated ability to translate complex technical concepts into business value propositions
• Track record of successfully influencing stakeholders through logical and fact-based arguments
• Self-motivated with excellent time management and prioritisation skills
• Strong communication skills with the ability to present complex topics to diverse audiences
• Experience in a consulting or advisory capacity related to AI implementations
• Knowledge of AI ethics, governance, and responsible AI practices
• Familiarity with MLOps and the operational aspects of AI system deployment
• Understanding of data privacy regulations and their implications for AI systems
• Experience with AI-driven automation in software engineering processes
• Knowledge of prompt engineering and optimisation techniques for LLMs
• Background in creating educational content or training materials on AI topics
• Experience measuring and quantifying the business impact of AI initiatives
